$30,500 raised for local charity; 30th Annual India Supper Night breaks ICA record
15 November 2011, Regina -- A record $30,500 was raised by the 30th Annual India Supper Night held on Saturday, September 24 at the Conexus Arts Centre. Organized by the India Canada Association of Saskatchewan (ICA), attendance at the event topped 500.
"We are truly excited about all the important work that can be accomplished through the help of this generous donation," said Faith Savarese, Executive Director of the Regina and District Association for Community Living (RDACL), the group to which proceeds from this ICA event were presented.
Specifically, donated funds will go towards the RDACL's "Campus For All" program which assists adults who have an intellectual disability audit classes at the University of Regina, improve their literacy skills, and make social connections with their student peers.
"We exceeded our own expectations with this milestone event," added event chair, Renu Kapoor.
"What a wonderful irony to raise 30K in our 30th year."
Since its founding in 1975, the ICA has raised over $400,000 for various local and international charities.
