Diwali

Since the beginning, ICA has hosted a Diwali event – an opportunity for both Indo-Canadians and the great Regina community to celebrate this most important of Indian traditions.

Known as the “Festival of Lights”, Diwali is an important five-day festival in Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism, occurring between mid-October and mid-November. For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important occasions of the year, often marked by families with traditional activities in the home. In some countries, Diwali is an official holiday. ICA Diwali events are an opportunity for families to come together for quality cultural time. We typically hold the party in a community centre and feature music, games, refreshments, and of course, candles and fire crackers.
